What We Do

The Civic Trust was founded in 1957 to encourage high standards of planning and architecture. We are concerned with the quality of our built environment and its impact on people.

Today, we are involved in a range of projects and programmes which form part of our continuing campaign to make better places for people to live and work:

We empower individuals and communities of all ages and backgrounds to improve the places they live.

We raise awareness of the need to create environments which bring out the best in people, celebrate the best places, and expect the highest quality for all communities.

We champion vibrant, inclusive towns and cities, and show how places can be better.

We work in partnership with the public sector, private companies, voluntary organisations and communities to campaign and influence.
