Green Flag Award
The Civic Trust manages the Green Flag Award Scheme on behalf of Communities and Local Government. The Scheme is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales, and has been piloted in Ireland and Scotland.
Winning sites include cemeteries, country parks, nature reserves and water gardens. Sites must be freely accessible to the public, and provide a welcoming and well managed space for their local community.
Sites are judged each year by a network of over 600 green space professionals; each winning site is entitled to fly the Green Flag to highlight their status.
There are currently 554 Green Flag Award winning sites in England, Scotland and Wales.
