Thamesgate resident involvement workshops

Private sector company, Thamesgate Regeneration, has been set up against the background of Thames Gateway expansion.

Thamesgate commissioned CTRU to lead the design and delivery of a community engagement strategy. This has involved providing detailed advice on engaging the community, and has included stakeholder analysis and discussions with community activists; work with the existing Community Forum, as well as a series of focus groups and consultative events on particular topics, such as travel and transport, health and recreation. CTRU has worked alongside a community development worker engaged by the company.

An open meeting was also held to provide background and context on development plans.

The Civic Trust also led a study tour to Rotterdam in March 2005 to look at the lessons from the Netherlands for housing and urban design in the Thames Gateway. This linked the work with Thamesgate to our capacity building work on housing design.
